The Government of Saint Lucia through the Ministry of Tourism, Investment,
Creative Industries, Culture and Information has continued its preparations for Saint Lucia Carnival 2022.

The cultural showcase is slated for 7th to 19th July with a mixture of national and private events.

‘Lucian Carnival’ as it is more affectionately known, will be managed through the Carnival Planning & Management Committee (CPMC) formerly known as the Carnival Planning & Management Agency (CPMA).

This Committee will be chaired by Ms. Tamara Gibson who is familiar to the Carnival climate and brings a wealth knowledge and experience in event management and execution.

The Committee will also compromise stakeholders including Events Company of Saint Lucia Inc. (ECSL), Cultural Development Foundation (CDF), Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA), Export Saint Lucia, Carnival Music Management Committee (CMMC), Steelpan Association and the Carnival Bands Association (CBA).

The music aspect of ‘Lucian Carnival’, namely the Calypso, Soca tents, Calypso and Soca Monarchs will be managed through the Carnival Music Management Committee (CMMC).

This Committee was formerly known as the Calypso Management Committee (CMC). The renaming of the Committee is to help adapt to the evolving nature that music has played in the promotion of our Carnival.

Carnival music includes calypso, groovy and power soca and the upcoming, highly-energized Kuduro or Dennery Segment.

The Carnival Music Management Committee (CMMC) will be chaired by Mr. Claude Paul who formerly chaired the Calypso Management Committee (CMC) and has a history of working alongside other calypso tents.

Minister for Creative Industries and Culture, Dr. Ernest Hilaire stated, “I am excited with how plans are progressing for Lucian Carnival 2022. The Committees that we have put together, both the Carnival Planning and Management Committee and the Carnival Music Management Committee, bring a pool of experience to the table, as we plan to bring back our cultural showcase after its two-year hiatus.  We know the trajectory that Carnival was on in 2020 before our precautionary closure, but the energy and demand for Carnival this year is like that of 2019.”

Dr. Hilaire further remarked, “It is very exciting when we hear that Carnival events are sold out within days after being launched, and some, even 4 to 5 months in advance. We also need to ensure that we give the National Events; Panorama, Calypso and Soca Monarchs, King and Queen of the Band and the Queen Show the necessary support so that they too, can be among the big events during the Carnival season.”

Meetings will continue to be held with officials from the Ministry of Health and the National Emergency Management Organization (NEMO) to finalize health and safety protocols for the hosting of Saint Lucia Carnival 2022, as we draw closer to the commencement of this highly anticipated cultural showcase.

  1. @Polential Patients – I hear you loud and clear; it appears that the Mr. Narcissus could care less. That spoilt little puppy have been allowed to do as he pleases for a long time – even at the expense of the health of the Nation potentially. Spoon fed like a Baby, big job in the U.K. he left a mess to be cleaned up, invited to Dubai, a well documented criminal asked for a ride, but does not have the balls to say NO; couldn’t because its the fixer who asked: It defiles our hope in what we believe in ‘ Ask and you shall receive ‘ – St. Lucia you need great help.

  2. Celebrate your festival 🥳🤯🎃👹👺🤡
    O nation 🇱🇨 ians
And fulfilled (accomplish) your vows !
    With hearts melt,knees give way,
bodies tremble, and every face grows pale 😠😡😩

A nation has change its god ?
Hear me,do not indulge in pagan revelery ; you who knows what is right and best, your people who have my laws in their hearts, die to sin and live for righteousness.

  3. That is the problem with this red government. Whenever they are in power they dig up these old skeletons and their FFF to come have a good time at tax payers expense. SLP especially one run by rover man, rewards corrupt and unethical behaviour. This woman not only embarrassed St. Lucia but the Caribbean at large not too long ago. On top of this she is actively involved in red international carnival band so how is this not a conflict of interest? Who’s the say that this band will not have an advantage over the others with this woman chairing a committee where bands are competing? I thought we voted for better. Faddaaaaa please remove rover man from our government because he is sure to cause us to fail. Smh. Mister pm man up please

  5. I was wondering when she would crawl out from under her rock to come enjoy her share of the political pudding. I feel sorry for those who are still waiting for the promised tax free salary. I’m sorry for those honest, hard working St. Lucians who thought they were supporting transparency, accountability and no conflict of interest. I feel sorry for those whose faces graced out televisions in every protest action foolishly believing they were supporting bread freedom and justice but haven’t had bread on their tables in days. I feel sorry for those who were beating their pans and these pans are still empty. I feel sorry for all those who were used so that this cabal could gain power so their FFF can thrive and get fat. I feel so so sorry.

    • This man he liar is poison. The man denies hard working, committed, dedicated people a job by bringing lies on them to pip because he wants to put his corrupt friend in the position. Yet, this disgraced person who had abused her position of trust which resulted in serious sanctions against her, embarrassing not only this country but the Caribbean on the whole can be rewarded because she is his friend? You call that fairness, transparency and accountability? You call that ethical or good governance? Nope! I call it nepotism, favoritism and elitism. That is why this party is a one term party because they always show their true colors when in office. It’s putting fff first

      • It is alleged that the only the morgue is fully functional at OKEUH. Administration, the Nurses are migrating rapidly, Doctors are in need of medical care and patient are being involuntarily abandoned. We certainly can not deal with any mass casualty event that is likely to be induced by social activities like jazz and carnival. Kindly, address our health care emergency first. Thank you.
