Press Release:– The Saint Lucia Consulate in Martinique is gearing up for two major events to celebrate Saint Lucia’s 43rd independence anniversary.
With the COVID current protocols in place, the Consulate decided to mark the event differently :
1. MIZIK NOU : On Sunday 20th February from 8 pm – 9:30 pm. In collaboration with HOT FM, the Consulate will present MIZIK NOU, a pre-independence jam of strictly local music. It will be a virtual party in which the diaspora worldwide can participate.
The event will be streamed live on NTN, the Consulate FB page, HOT FM radio, HOT 7 TV, the Caribbean HOT FM app, and HOT FM Facebook page.
2. Airing of the film WHO ARE YOU? on French national stations in Martinique, Guadeloupe and French Guyana.
Who Are You? is a groundbreaking documentary by D. Kendal John that traces the fascinating history of the tiny Caribbean island of St. Lucia and explains the origins of passed down customs, ancient man-made structures, and striking physical features of this enchanted land.
The film is a comprehensive journey through the cultural tapestry of one of the Caribbean’s most beloved tourist destinations. Interviews with local experts provide insight into almost every aspect of Saint Lucian life and culture.
Considered a true eye-opener for native Saint Lucians and Saint Lucians residing abroad, this UNESCO-supported film serves as a snapshot of many Caribbean islands struggling to define their societies in an era post-colonial.
The film will be aired during the independence week on the Guyane la 1ere in French Guyana, ATV in Martinique and Guadeloupe as well Zouk TV in Martinique.
