Saint Lucia Cop Charged With Murder Granted Bail

A Saint Lucia police officer charged with murder has been granted bail in the sum of $120,000.

Michael Vitalis was charged in the shooting death of 22 year old Ronnie Samuel on August 1, 2018.

Samuel was shot at Gros Islet.

He was allegedly shot and killed by law enforcement after he reportedly opened fire during a J’ouvert activity in the community, injuring two other men in the process.

Acting Police Commissioner, Milton Desir, during a news conference last month, expressed the hope that the officer charged with murder would have a speedy trial in order to know his fate.
