Saint Lucia Firefighter Dead After Apparent Bike Accident

A Saint Lucia firefighter is dead after an apparent bike accident in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Emergency officials say the body of Fitz Andre Charlery was found after 3 a.m on the Vieux Fort-Micoud Highway near the horse stables.

They disclosed that his motorbike was discovered on the side of the road  after a search of the area.

According to emergency officials, Charlery was found unresponsive.

They suspect that his bike ran off the road.

An ambulance from the Vieux Fort fire station took him to St Jude Hospital where a doctor pronounced him dead.

Charlery is said to have been in his forties and had a record of some two decades of service in the Saint Lucia Fire Service, it was disclosed.

He was attached to the fire station at Hewanorra International Airport.
