Saint Lucia Hands Two Wanted Men Over To Martinique Authorities

Saint Lucia police have handed two wanted men over to law enforcement authorities in Martinique, French news reports say.

The handover has been confirmed by Saint Lucia officials.

However details relating to how the men were held in Saint Lucia were not immediately clear.

It was reported that on April 2, 2020, Johan Marie Magdeleine, 39 years old and originally from Lamentin, was arrested in Saint Lucia.

According to Martinique 1ere he was deported along with another man who was also arrested some time between the night of Friday April 3 and Saturday April 4, 2020.

Both were delivered to the French authorities aboard the the French navy patrol boat La Combattante which was in the channel off Saint Lucia, French Public Prosecutor Renaud Gaudeu was quoted as saying.

The two wanted men were the subject of an arrest warrant issued by an investigating magistrate of the Specialized Interregional Jurisdiction (JIRS) of Fort-de-France.

They are accused of, among other things, importing narcotics into an organized gang, drug trafficking and arms trafficking .

They were imprisoned at the Ducos Penitentiary Center.
