Minister of Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Information Dr. Ernest Hilaire says this country has lost a great musician with the death of Clarence Joseph, who will be sorely missed.

On Monday, Hilaire paid tribute to the late musician.

The Minister’s complete statement appears below:

Saint Lucia mourns the death of another great musician Clarence Joseph. Clarence joined the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force Band in his teenage years and after some years left to pursue a professional musical career with Boo and the Tru Tones.

Clarence was also a member of the West Indies Jazz Band under the leadership of Luther
Francois. The fact that the West Indies Jazz Bank featured only the best from the Caribbean speaks to the caliber of musician Clarence was.

He was also a very prolific arranger, working with several of our calypsonians during the carnival season.

Saint Lucia has lost a great musician and he will be surely missed. As Minister of Tourism, Investment, Creative Industries, Culture and Information, on behalf of the Government of Saint Lucia, I offer my deepest condolences to his family and the musical fraternity.

May He Rest In Peace.
