Saint Lucia Preparing To Host First International Horse Race

Press Release:-  Saint Lucia is preparing to host its first international horse race in the town of Vieux Fort, following the arrival of 40 thoroughbred horses to the island.

The race track, managed by the Royal Saint Lucia Turf Club, was constructed by the Desert Star Holdings Company. The race is the first public event at the club’s new facility, which is part of the Pearl of the Caribbean development, spearheaded by China Horse Club founder and chairman, Teo Ah Khing.

The arrival of the horses and the near completion of the race track has secured local employment both at the construction phase, and in the training of young people.

The Office of the Prime Minister reiterated support for all projects that are beneficial to Saint Lucians—whether investors are local or international.

The “Race to the Pitons” will be held on Dec. 13.

    • Yaaawwwwn . Question ? If the government of St Lucia by contractual rules is exempt from been an investor of any of Desert Star Holdings Project therefore forfeit any earnings, there fore only settling for trickle down economic crumbs for 99yrs. I heard Allen Chastanet bragging on the radio about the cash prize ,who is putting up the cash prize for the first so called “Piton Stakes” ?? If it’s the government of St Lucia like Dear Allen states, and since the government is exempt from investing and collecting any proceeds where did this money come from ? Inquiring mind wants to know, but The Enemies of The State are more in tuned in printing misleading narratives to The Saint Lucian People in order to bolster their quest of achieved prosperity.

      • You knuckeheads there are so pessimistic. The prize money for the big race is being generated by the ntrants who have to pay $25,000 for a spot in the race. Other race purse money will be generated by handle. Get a grip

      • ROSHAN SCOTT RAMNARINE, you need to get a grip, you idiot. That you know sooooooooo much does not exclude somebody else asking legitimate questions.

  1. If, the price is right I will be there.Because wether we all agree and like it ,or consider it a Royal Magestical scam, the fact is that the race will take place on that day.Like Napoleon would say ..to fight your enemy and win ,first you have to get to know him perfectly, how he walks, operates and thinks. This is just the start of something new for St Lucians,it can have an incredible impact on all our lives,it can reach the skies, move millions,it can al so send us to the dumps, and finish with many of us.If ever a vicious and corrupted sport exists, here we have it. I wonder what the church people are thinking ?

  4. Is St Lucia ready for this?
@Castries Fisherman … you are the only one to comment some sense in this forum … but I still ask, is St Lucia ready for this?

  5. St.Lucians should be thankful and praise the Prime Minister for this great investment in St.Lucia.No wonder Barbados has been doing marvelously well in developing the entire island.St.Lucians are so politically divided that they rather hurt themselves than accepting with open arms new projects on the island created by the UWP government. What a shame in 2019.
People should worry about politics during election time and in the meantime fight for good paying jobs, good health care, low cost of living, and low taxes.
