Saint Lucia Records 19th Case Of COVID-19

Press Release:– On Thursday, June 4, 2020 the Ezra Long Laboratory of the Owen King EU Hospital reported that from a batch of 23 tests conducted there was one positive case of COVID-19.

The individual is a 33 year old female nationals employed with a cruise line. She was recently repatriated to Saint Lucia and was placed in institutional quarantine as per national protocol.

In keeping with the testing strategy for repatriated cruise line workers, she was swabbed to determine her COVID-19 status.

Upon receiving results confirming this case, the individual has now been placed in isolation for care and is doing well.

Although in this instance the positive COVID-19 result was from an individual in quarantine, the contact tracing process shall still apply.

It should be noted that there is very low risk to the other people in quarantine given their compliance to the requirements for minimizing risks of exposure to the virus.

The Ministry of Health notes that this recently confirmed case demonstrates the importance of our protocol for having every returning national placed in quarantine and monitored for the required 14 days.

It is with the commitment to protect the health of every single citizen we require adherence to this quarantine process.

Although we know it may create some amount of anxiety and even frustration for some, the overall benefit of protecting the health and safety of all, in the long run, outweigh these inconveniences.

We ask that everyone continues to support our national effort to minimize the threat of COVID-19.

We continue to advise on maintaining the standard recommendations to prevent the spread of infection.

These include: –

– regular hand washing with soap and water or alcohol based hand sanitizer where soap and water is not available.

– cover mouth and nose with disposable tissues or clothing when coughing and sneezing.

– using a mask when in public along with maintaining the six feet physical distance.

The Ministry of Health shall continue to provide further updates

  1. Hope she recovers, but please everyone remember it’s still a killer amongst us all. We seem to have forgotten this and going along as if nothing is wrong and we are safe: WE ARE NOT.

  2. Covid-19 is here to stay just be careful sometimes you are antisymatic people that virus is dangerous. What that have to do with borders open some lucians pretending they can read but can’t understand. Our people have to come home that is why the government is taking precautionary measures.Thats cmo and your team God bless you all 🙏🙏🇱🇨🇱🇨

  3. From a cruise ship? Those places are the worst when it comes to spreading disease. Chances are there are many more.

  4. These Persons on the Cruise Ship were making So much Noise that they want to Return Home .Indeed they Return with The Coronavirus.More have to Return with the Virus. Most of them who Return will not be Rehired on these Cruise Ships. The Cmo have to make sure the others Returning go into Quarantine

  5. Trevor James..What is your problem? Was Kenny Anthony half green? How long do u think a government can keep any border close? U need to research what a shadow government is n maybe just maybe u will begin to understand that the half white pm is not doing this on his own. Stop the politics cause if it was slp the entire Chinese population would move in. Now on the other foot…This corona thing is dead n will be dead for a long time. We all carry corona virus hence y we have the flu n other respiratory issues that has to do with the flu. U can’t keep saying another case another case…Just say the flu. How come this 33year old is already doing fine? Cause it’s the flu. U have a greater chance dying from a gunshot than the flu. Stop telling people wear masks cause we all see what mask wearing does. U will die slowly from carbon dioxide poisoning. We are meant to sneeze n cough. We live in a tropical island with lots of pollen..U will sneeze. So yes cover your mouth when doing so,but to asked to wear a mask in public is dangerous. Also, very soon robberies will b on a high cause it’s legal now to wear a mask.

The st Lucian public need to educate themselves before listening to belmare who probably missed the lime light. What ever is out there only self education can solve it. Very soon all this social distancing n curfew n all that will solve nothing. I don’t social distance n I’ve never worn a mask n I’m cool. I go where I have to n do what I have to. I won’t live my life in panic mode..This does more harm than good.
