Saint Lucia Records 23 New COVID-19 Cases

Press Release:–  Today Saturday April 24, 2021 the Ministry of Health and Wellness received confirmation of 23 new cases of COVID-19 from the Ezra Long Laboratory.

This is from a batch of 177 samples taken during the period April 21, 2021 to April 23, 2021.

These samples were processed on April 23, 2021.

All of these individuals were seen at various community respiratory clinics where they were
assessed and tested for COVID-19.

In-keeping with the national COVID-19 testing protocol, they were each placed in home quarantine by healthcare practitioners while awaiting the return of their COVID-19 test results.

Arrangements have since been made to place these newly diagnosed individuals in isolation.

The contact tracing for these new cases is underway.

The Ministry of Health also received confirmation of the recovery of 10 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19 bringing the total number of active cases in country to date to

Presently, all of the active cases are doing well.

The new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in country to date to 4486.

As of yesterday April 13, 2021 a total of 23, 941 individuals have received the first dose of
the COVID-19 vaccine and 392 individuals have received the second dose.

Everyone interested in getting vaccinated are encouraged to pre-register ahead of time via the online platform or at the Community Wellness Centre nearest to you.

The Ministry of Health continues to emphasize on the importance of practicing the infection
prevention and control guidelines that can minimize our exposure to the COVID-19 virus.

These include hand hygiene, use of a face mask in public covering the mouth, nose and chin, maintaining a distance from others and use a bleach solution to sanitize frequently touched surfaces and handled objects.

If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms, keep away from others and seek medical care at your closest community respiratory clinic.

The Ministry of Health and Wellness will continue providing updates to the public as new
information becomes available.
