Saint Lucia Records 3 New COVID-19 Cases

Saint Lucia on Friday announced confirmation of 3 new cases of COVID-19.

According to the Ministry of Health, the Ezra Long Laboratory confirmed the new cases from a batch of 177 samples taken on April 7, 2021 and April 8, 2021.

The laboratory processed the samplesĀ  on April 8.

A Health Ministry release indicated that all three COVID positive individuals had visited various community respiratory clinics which assessed and tested them.

And the release disclosed that in keeping with the national COVID-19 testing
protocol, health care practitioners put them in home quarantine while awaiting the results.

Arrangements have since been made to place the patients in isolation and contact tracing for the new cases is underway.

The Ministry of Health has also reported the recovery of 9 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19.

As a result, the total number of active cases in country as of Friday was 132.

But the Ministry of Health disclosed that presently, three of the active cases require critical care at the Respiratory Hospital.

TheĀ  total number of cases diagnosed in country to date is 4332.

And as of April 8, 2021 a total of 23, 150 individuals have received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

In addition, 7 individuals have received the second dose.

Health officials are encouraging everyone interested in getting vaccinated to pre-register ahead of time.

They may register via the online platform or at the Community
Wellness Centre nearest to them.
