Saint Lucia Records 33 New COVID-19 Cases – Pierre To Address The Nation

Prime Minister, Philip J. Pierre, will be addressing the nation Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. regarding changes in COVID-19 protocols, as new cases of the virus continue to increase.

Ahead of the address, the Ministry of Health announced on Wednesday afternoon that it had received confirmation  of 33 new cases of COVID-19 from the Ezra Long Laboratory from a batch of 273 samples taken on August 9, 2021 and August 10, 2021.

The samples were processed on August 10, 2021.

The Ministry also announced  confirmation of the recovery of 11 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19, bringing  the total number of active cases currently recorded in country to date to 396.

Four of the active cases are requiring critical care at the Respiratory Hospital, a Ministry statement disclosed, while noting that the new infections bring the total number of cases diagnosed in country to date to 5982.

As of August 10, 2021 a total of 33, 120 individuals had received the first dose of the vaccine and 25, 931 individuals have received the second dose.

Health officials are urging members of the public to be vigilant, observe the protocols and get vaccinated.
