Saint Lucia Records One More ‘COVID-19 Related’ Death

The Ministry of Health and Wellness has reported  one new COVID-19 related death and nine new cases of the virus.

According to a ministry release on Wednesday, to date, the total number of COVID-19 deaths in country is 50 and the total number of ‘COVID-19 related deaths’ is 37.

COVID-19 related death #37 is a 53 year old male from the Castries district.

And in regard to the nine new cases of the virus, the ministry statement disclosed that they were diagnosed from  a batch of 225 samples taken during the period July 10, 2021 to July 13, 2021 and processed on July 13, 2021.

The new patients bring the total number of cases diagnosed in country to date to 5439.

Confirmation has also been received that 31 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19 have recovered, bringing the total number of active cases in country to date to 117.

Two of the active  cases are receiving critical care at the Respiratory Hospital.

According to the Ministry of Health and Wellness, as of July 13, 2021, a total of 31, 400 individuals had received the first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine and 22, 752 individuals have received the second dose.

On Thursday, July 15, 2021 the COVID-19 vaccination drive will take place at the Vigie Sports Complex and the Phillip Marcellin Grounds catering to the general population, 18 years and older, for the first dose, as well as individuals receiving the second dose of the vaccine.
