Saint Lucia Red Cross Assists Wilton’s Yard Fire Victims

The Saint Lucia Red Cross has been assisting victims of Thursday night’s fire in Wilton’s Yard.

The President, Hubert Pierre, disclosed that representatives of the organisation visited the community on Good Friday.

He told St Lucia Times that on Saturday, they responded to the needs of the fire victims by distributing sleeping material, hygiene kits, kitchen sets, food and clean up kits.

The Saint Lucia Red Cross President explained that the objective was to help the fire victims to cope.

He described the fire victims as being very ‘resilient’ people and said the community is very cooperative.

The Saint Lucia Fire Service reported that three houses were destroyed in the Wilton’s Yard, Castries, fire.

The fire service said that it received a call about the incident at 11:13 p.m.

Units from the Castries, Babonneau and Gros Islet fire stations responded.

No injuries were reported.
