Saint Lucia Roots & Soul Festival – Grounded and Growing

Press Release:- On Friday, January 25th 2019, The Events Company of Saint Lucia launched the Saint Lucia Summer Festival at The Harbor Club in Rodney Bay.

As the event producers announced their plans for the series of festivals scheduled for this year on Saint Lucia events calendar, great applause was heard for the Saint Lucia Roots and Soul Festival line-up.

For Events Saint Lucia, there was no doubt that the policy of disentangling the musical genres of the former Saint Lucia Jazz Festival into several singular festivals was beginning to be understood.

The Roots and Soul Festival is the element of the former Saint Lucia Jazz Festival that has the greatest appeal among the Saint Lucian audience. Three years into its production, we are happy to report that the festival is grounded and growing.

Commenting on the festival, Chairperson of the Events Saint Lucia, Agnes Francis, states that “over the months of preparation and as the festival gets nearer, Events Saint Lucia is excited about the level of interest and enthusiasm being displayed for the Saint Lucia Roots & Soul Festival, giving us  every reason to believe that it is becoming one of the most anticipated events in the region.”

In 2019 the Roots & Soul Festival is showcasing an eclectic mix of musical entertainment, delivered by an A-list of Reggae, Hip Hop, RnB and Afro-punk artistes.

On Friday August 23rd at the Ramp on Rodney Bay at 8:30 pm, the festival kicks off with  the soulful spoken-word of UK based Saint Lucian poet Curmiah Lisette, followed by Canadian Based Saint Lucian Hip-Hop, Rap and R&B singer, Asher “Smallz” Small backed by other Saint Lucian artistes.

The rootsy and soulful Naomie “N-gozi” Grandison will keep the heightened blend of entertaining, stimulating and world class compositions with her brand of inspirational music. Day one of Roots & Soul closes off with the philosophical, ever conscious Rapso band out of T&T, 3Canal. Tickets for this event are XCD 75 or USD30.
