Saint Lucian sailor Stephanie Devaux Lovell is presently engaged in a 3-week training camp at the Vilamoura Sailing Center in Vilamoura, Portugal.
Lovell, a 2016 Olympian, is aiming to be the first Saint Lucian sailor to compete at multiple iterations of the Summer Olympics, and the first natural qualifier from Saint Lucia in that sport.
The 24-year-old is currently a university student in Canada, and she is in Portugal training alongside members of the Canada national team. Says Lovell: “It’s been so intense! I love it!”
Vilamoura Sailing Center is based in the Marina de Vilamoura, on the south cost of Portugal. The Center has outstanding facilities and unique sailing conditions, to welcome all sailing classes.
With permanent staff dedicated to find the best training solutions, accommodation, gyms, bicycles, and smooth sailing out in the sea with steady winds, this is the ideal venue for the ambitious sailor. The British national team last week concluded a training camp at Vilamoura.
Lovell finished 29th in the laser radial event at the 2016 Olympiad in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
