An estimated 600 Saint Lucians are expected to receive free hearing aids when the Starkey Hearing Foundation hosts its third national hearing mission here.

A statement from the Ministry of Health and Wellness says the mission, in collaboration with the ministry, will be held from October 13 -16, 2019.

The venue will be the National Cultural Center from 8 am daily.

“The Foundation will be providing hearing aids free of cost, as well as a lifetime supply of batteries and aftercare support,” the ministry statement said.

It observed that the Phase 1/Phase 2 mission is expected to cater to approximately six hundred persons.

Prior to the screening, all persons with hearing impairments will be required to have their hearing tested at the Vieux Fort and La Clery Wellness Centres, according to the release.

The Department of Health & Wellness has appealed to all persons with hearing difficulties to call the Vieux Fort and La Clery Wellness Centres for an appointment.

The department said that hearing services at the Vieux Fort Wellness Centre are available Monday to Friday and services at the La Clery Wellness Center will be on a Wednesday and Thursday.

“For further information, please contact the Community Nursing Service Department at 468-5320 or 468-5321,” it advised.

  1. As long as goverment dosent start creating obstacles for the elderly, remember they dont have money for nothing, they can barely survive, and some really dont get help from their families, that is the sad part of all this.

  2. Stop exposing yourselves to loud music from bars and outdoor events. Protect your ears when using machines like pressure washers, lawn mowers etc. In fact Government should put regulations on noise pollution as most times people not involved in those activities are subject to the loud noises. Many of the hearing loss issues are caused by not taking care of our hearing in our youth.
