The Director of Implementation in the Office of the Prime Minister, Nancy Charles, is inviting Saint Lucians to stop, pause, reflect and meditate during the national day of prayer and fasting scheduled for May 24.
The activity will run from 6:00 am to 6:00 pm on that day.
“It’s an opportunity for us to call on our creator and to just have that level of meditation and reflection,” Charles told St Lucia Times.
She observed that the country is entering election campaign mode.
In addition, the OPM official observed that the hurricane season is also approaching.
And Charles noted that the COVID-19 pandemic has impacted Saint Lucia and the world.
As a result, she explained that people are dealing with many challenges.
Therefore, Charles said the cabinet of ministers in discussion with faith based organisations agreed it was time to call the nation together for a moment of reflection.
But she told St Lucia Times that the national day of prayer and fasting would also encompass praise and thanksgiving, while seeking guidance.
“The people are crying out for it – for us to come together,” Charles asserted.
She expressed the hope that after the national day of prayer and fasting the country would have a new awareness and people would reflect on their actions and behaviour.
