Saint Lucia’s 2019 Tourism Performance Breaks Previous Arrivals Records

Prime Minister Allen Chastanet has noted that for the first time in Saint Lucia’s history,  the Island has recorded over 400,000 stayover arrivals.

Writing on his official Facebook page, the former Tourism Minister disclosed that it represents an increase of about 7.1% year to date.

“This extraordinary performance topped off an already successful year for our destination which also saw us winning the World’s Leading Honeymoon Destination for a record 11th time!” Chastanet recalled.

He explained that as the country continues to enjoy record breaking arrivals, throughout this year  the Government will be making a concerted effort via game changing policies and projects to ensure more Saint Lucians benefit from “these exceptional performances”.

“I would love to see more of our people not only being employed in the industry, but participating as entrepreneurs whether it be by starting their own unique tours and excursions, restaurants, bars, accommodation and retail/vending ventures,” the PM declared.

“By continuing to work together, we can truly ensure that Saint Lucia becomes the best place to Live, Work, Visit and Invest!” He asserted.

  1. What percentage of the money these 400,000 tourist spent in St lucia was treacled down to the un-employed and less fortunate. Moreover, a large number of these people stayed either at all inclusive resorts or came on cruise ships so they just passed through the island very briefly.
