Skipper of Peshawar Zalmi, Saint Lucian Daren Sammy, fulfilled a wish of a young cancer patient in Pakistan by meeting the youngster, local news reports say.
Hamza had expressed a wish to see the cricket star and uploaded a video on social media indicating that meeting Sammy was his dream.
Peshawar Zalmi management saw the video and invited the youngster over to meet his hero, according to CricketWorld.
Hamza presented a portrait he had drawn of Sammy to his hero.
In a video recording of the meeting, Sammy observed that people have different roles in life.
” For me, if I can inspire one child I am doing my job. Hamza here is a champion,” he declared.
Referring to Hamza’s drawing of him, Sammy said with a chuckle: “He has given me broad shoulders so I could hit sixes in the next match!”
The Business Recorder reported that the young cancer survivor also met with other Zalmi superstars including Wahab Riaz, Kamran Akmal and Chris Jordan.
According to the publication, Sammy, the West Indies T20 World Cup winning captain, enjoys a huge fan following in Pakistan, thanks to his ‘gutsy show on the field and enthusiasm off the field.’
