Speaking after the team’s latest loss on Sunday night in St Kitts and Nevis, Saint Lucia Zouks captain Daren Sammy announced his latest reinforcement, 34-year-old South African batsman, Colin Ingram.
Ingram,a blond, bestubbled, bruising left-hander, joins the Zouks for the rest of the 2019 Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) season. Ingram replaces Sri Lankan Thisara Perera, who returns to national duty.
Ingram, a member of the 2018 CPL champions, Trinbago Knight Riders, also played for Glamorgan in England’s T20 Blast. Though he did not shine with Delhi Capitals in the 2019 Indian Premier League, it is widely agreed that he was played out of position.
With the Zouks starting their home stand at Daren Sammy Cricket Ground this week, Ingram’s experience and his career tally of over 6,000 runs, including four 100’s and 38 50’s, will be a big boost to the side.
As of 10:19am Saint Lucian time, here is what the big-hitting East Cape product had to say:
“Awesome to be heading out to join @Zouksonfire at the @CPL . #DontDieWondering
@darensammy88 @JamesFoster07 see u all soon
Ingram’s nickname of Bozie came from “bulldozer” because his grandmother observed that he was in the habit of bulldozing around.
