SDA Minister condemns US mass shootings

Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) Minister, Doctor Franklin Bray, has condemned the mass shootings at the Pulse nightclub in Orlando, Florida.

The incident left 49 people dead.

A gunman armed with an assault-type rifle and a handgun opened fire inside the crowded gay club.

It resulted in a hostage standoff that lasted three hours before the shooter was killed in a gunfight with SWAT.

SDA Minister, Doctor Franklin Bray, told the Times  that his heart goes out to the surviving relatives of the persons killed in the mass shooting.

He said the mas shooting should be totally rejected and condemned.

Bray asserted that religion, bigotry and fanaticism should not be used in any way to inflict pain on anyone.

“The balance here should be that people should be able to have differences of opinion, hold different beliefs and co-exist in an environment that makes it conducive for everybody,” the SDA Minister, who is also a Clinical Psychologist, told the Times.

He said whether a person is gay, bi-sexual, transgender or heterosexual, it does not give an individual a right to walk into a place and commit murder whether from a religious or moral standpoint.

“All of those people should have been respected whether one held their view or not. They need to have been respected as human beings,” Bray declared.
