Sea Jays Swim Clubs hails the Capri-Sun Short Course National Swim Championship a Huge Success

After 3 days of intense competition at the Capri-Sun Short Course National Swim Championship, which represented the Trial meet for the selection of Team St. Lucia to represent at the 26 th OECS Swimming Championship in November the 10 th to the 13 th 2016 in St. Vincent, the meet proved to be a huge success!

The event included various swim strokes such as the Breast, Butterfly, Freestyle and Backstroke mirroring the events scheduled for the OECS Swim championship to assist the St. Lucia Amateur Swimming Association in selecting the best qualifying swim team to represent St. Lucia at the upcoming championship. The individual team scores per age group is as follows;

The Record Breakers at Capri-Sun Swim Championship included

Boys 8 and Under 100 Freestyle and 100 Meter IM was Therron Herelle.

Boys 8 and Under 25 Meter Breast Stroke was Karic Charles.

Boys 8 and Under 25 Meter Fly was Antoine Destang.

Boys 9 – 10 50 Meter Breast Stroke was D’Andre Blanchard.

Girls 13 – 14 200 Meter Free was Katie Kyle and Boys 13 – 14 50 Meter Breast was Devin Boodha.

On the final day of meet after all the points were tallied the combined scores were:

1 st Place – Sharks Swim Club with 1283 points

2 nd Place – Sea Jays Swim Club – 807 points

3 rd Place – Racers Swim Club – 685 points

4 th Place – Lightning Swim Club – 559 points

5 th Place – Sports Academy – 188 points

6 th Place – Southern Flying Fish – 173 points

7 th Place – Romain Rooservelt Aquatic Swim Club – 2 points

Without the support of these sponsors the Capri Sun National Swim Championship would not have been possible.

The Sea Jays Swim Club also takes the opportunity to congratulate lifeguard Zack Dominque, who took a watchful eye over the swimmers throughout the weekend. Zack Dominique will be traveling to the Buckingham Palace to receive the Mount Batten Award from the Royal Life Saving Association.

Swimmers and Supporters await anxiously from St. Lucia Amateur Swimming Association Tech Committee the final selection of the team to represent St. Lucia.
