Six Charged After Guns, Ammunition Seized In Vieux Fort

Police say they laid several charges in connection with an operation in Vieux Fort last week, in which they seized illegal guns, ammunition and other items.

Investigators say they charged Irkey Leonce Bernard, Marlon Preudhomme, Arenato Soumere, Dante Jn Baptiste, Shaquille Joseph and Dahved Augustin for possession of firearm and ammunition.

Officers also charged Jn Baptiste and Preudhomme with possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

A court remanded all of the suspects  in custody when they  made a virtual appearance via Zoom on Friday.

The police arrested them during an operation on Martin Luther King Street in Vieux Fort on Wednesday, May 12.

As a result of the exercise, police recovered five firearms, including an AR-15 rifle.

They also seized some 100 rounds of ammunition and cannabis.
