Press Release:– The Saint Lucia Blind Welfare Association (SLBWA) joins with the rest of the nation in expressing sincere and deepest sympathy to the family of well-known Journalist, Pioneer, Visionary, Humanitarian, Business, and Electronic Media Specialist, Mrs. Valerie Albert Fevriere. She departed this life on Tuesday, September 7, 2021.

President Mr. Glen Simon, Officers, Members, Clients, Staff and Partners of SLBWA, sadly mourn the untimely passing of this National Icon, who was also the SLBWA’s former
Public Relations Officer, proactive member and committed supporter through the years.

According to executive director Mr. Anthony Avril- “Valerie also touched our organization in a special way, always giving us her support where possible and especially in terms of coverage for some of our major fundraising and Public Education Campaigns. The need to participate and promote those Campaigns was a natural fit to Valerie’s psyche because she believed in the principle and spirit of “Inclusion.” Moreover, she believed that people living with Blindness and Vision Impairment want equal opportunities to not only provide for themselves and families, but also to participate in their nation’s development. She was convinced that this coveted goal shall be achieved by ensuring that citizens with Blindness and Vision Impairment are empowered with appropriate livelihood tools”.

“Valerie’s foot print is firmly anchored in the Media Map of St. Lucia,” said Mr. Anthony Avril, the association’s executive director. “We recall the following fundraising events: Sound for Sight; National Country and Western Singing Competition; Piton Lions Annual “Grand Tea Party Fun for Sight; and several other musical shows/Concert. These featured vast arrays of national, regional and international artists, inclusive blind, visually impaired and sighted. They were led by Skitter Davis, Harold Dolor, Mary Seas Nichols, Dorothy Smith aka Patra, Judith Boucher, Nikki Edmunds aka Ali Cat, Talented Vision Impaired-Major Tone Band, Anthony Francis aka Mighty Almanack, and the late Morgan Dupal aka Jim Coco Snow”.
