SLFS Responds To Weekend Shooting, Physical Assaults And Fires

The Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) responded to a shooting at Gros Islet, three fire calls and four vehicle accidents for the weekend of June 4 to 7.

There were also six calls related to physical assaults.

Fire Service spokeswoman, Stacy Joseph, said in total the SLFS recorded 80 ambulance responses during the review period.

In connection with the shooting, Joseph disclosed that an emergency call came in to the Fire Service Headquarters on Friday 4 June, at approximately 9:15 p.m. for an individual who allegedly sustained a gunshot wound on Chapel Street in Gros Islet.

According to Joseph, the individual walked to the ambulance, nursing an injury to his leg.

She said emergency responders bandaged the ‘penetrating wound’ the patient had sustained and transported him to the OKEU Hospital in stable condition.

Meanwhile, emergency personnelĀ  at the Gros Islet Fire Station responded to a call on Sunday 6 June at approximately 11:45 a.m in relation to a a motorcycle accident at Monchy.

Joseph said the responders found two individuals on the scene who were involved in the accident and had sustained various wounds about the body.

The emergency personnel immobilised the patients and transported them to the OKEU Hospital in stable condition, the SLFS spokeswoman disclosed.
