On Tuesday afternoon, Emergency personnel from the Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) responded to a report of an accident at Ravine Poisson, Bexon, involving a minibus and a goods truck and took eight victims to hospital.
Deputy Fire Chief George Victorin told St Lucia Times that emergency responders received a call for assistance around 12:30 pm.
“When we arrived, we realised that a minibus had collided with a goods vehicle,” Victorin said.
He explained that the minibus driver was trapped behind the steering wheel and emergency responders had to extricate him.
“He suffered serious injuries. A total of eight people were transported to the OKEU Hospital, and most of them seemed to have sustained serious injuries,” the Deputy Fire Chief disclosed.
Victorin said the SLFS mobilised resources from several of its stations, including Dennery, fire service headquarters, and Babonneau, to respond to the emergency. He explained that several ambulances and two fire trucks were on the scene to render assistance.
