The opposition Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) has condemned the arrest of Jeremiah Norbert’s Campaign Manager, Phillys Wilson.

SLP Communications Officer, Maundy Lewis, described the development as vile and reprehensible.

And she asserted that it constituted the latest act of desperation by the ruling United Workers Party (UWP).

Lewis said the UWP engineered and caused the baseless and politically spiteful arrest.

She stated that police detained Wilson at the Micoud police station.

But according to Lewis, officers questioned and released Wilson without charge after a few hours.

However, Lewis asserted in a statement Thursday that there was absolutely no valid reason for the arrest.

And she declared that the walls of electoral defeat are closing in on the beleaguered UWP.

Police explained that they arrested Wilson on suspicion of organizing a mass crowd event.

Officers say they are investigating a weekend homecoming motorcade for the SLPs Micoud North candidate, Jeremiah Norbert.

However, the SLP Communications Officer indicated that the arrest is even worse when contrasted with how the UWP is allowed to flout COVID-19 regulations and measures with impunity.
