The leader of the opposition Saint Lucia Labour Party, Philip J. Pierre, and the party’s endorsed candidate for the constituency, Kenson Casimir, concluded a visit to the community Saturday, indicating that election projects have not fooled the people.
“We discussed many of the pressing issues affecting the residents who assured us that they were not fooled by election projects,” Pierre stated.
He made the remark on the SLP’s official Facebook page.
“The choice is clear. Leadership that you can trust, and leadership that cares. Kenson Casimir for Gros Islet,” the SLP leader asserted.
The visit by the opposition officials to Gros Islet followed an announcement earlier by the incumbent MP, Lenard ‘Spider’ Montoute.
A statement from Montoute’s constituency office quoted him as saying that the Gros Islet Waterfront Redevelopment Project is about start.
According to the statement, Phase One has already been approved.
It includes the pedestrianization of the Gros Islet Waterfront.
And Phase Two ‘will see the repairing and expansion of the Gros Islet Jetty allowing for the berthing of small and medium sized boats and yachts’.
