The Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP), has congratulated Dr. Hyginus Leon, who will soon become the new President of the Caribbean development Bank (CDB).
Dr. Leon is a Saint Lucian national.
“As the second Saint Lucian, after the founding President, Sir Arthur Lewis, to be chosen for this position, he has brought further recognition to himself and honour to his country,” the SLP observed in a post on its official Facebook page.
The Saint Lucian national takes over leadership of the CDB on May 1, 2021.
And he will succeed Dr. Wm Warren Smith.
Smith has been at the helm of the CDB for the past 10 years.
SLP leader, Philip J. Pierre, says he was pleased to learn of Dr. Leon’s appointment,
Pierre noted that Leon has distinguished himself as an outstanding son of Saint Lucia
“His knowledge and expertise has served several countries across the Caribbean and in other regions such as Africa, the Middle East, and Central Asia. I wish him well as he continues his service towards the development of our region,” the SLP leader stated.
