Press Release:- On Sunday 16th May, the Saint Lucia Labour Party successfully hosted a Virtual Diaspora Town Hall for Saint Lucians residing in the United States of America.
Political Leader and MP for Castries East, Hon. Philip J. Pierre was joined by the MP for Vieux Fort North, Hon. Moses “Musa” Jn. Baptiste and the candidate for Micoud North, Jeremiah Norbert.
Hon. Pierre and his team reiterated the necessity for established and sustained dialogue with persons in the diaspora in order to foster partnerships and investment opportunities in Saint Lucia.
He underscored the importance of the diaspora in national development and in the exchange of ideas and technical expertise.
He added that there was also the need to provide incentives and opportunities to Saint Lucian who wish to do business at home.
Hon. Pierre stated that a Labour Party under his leadership would not only provide for the
duty-free importation of charitable goods but would also explore a VAT free option to assist
the many persons who contribute annually to organisations and communities in Saint Lucia.
The Virtual Diaspora Town Hall, United States Edition was the first in a series of scheduled
diaspora meetings for the year.
Virtual Diaspora Town Halls for the United Kingdom, Canada and the Caribbean Region are being planned and will be advertised in the coming weeks.
