Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) leader, Philip J. Pierre, has congratulated the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines on his re-election.
Preliminary figures released by the electoral office showed that Gonsalves’ party won nine of the 15 seats in the Parliament,
“On behalf of the Saint Lucia Labour Party and the people of Saint Lucia, I wish to congratulate my comrade and the Prime Minister of Saint Vincent & the Grenadines, Hon. Dr. Ralph Gonsalves on the resounding victory at the polls yesterday,” Pierre wrote on the SLP’s official Facebook page Friday.
A photo of Gonsalves flanked by Pierre and Castries South MP, Dr. Ernest Hilaire, accompanied the Facebook post.
The Saint Lucia opposition leader observed that the SLP and Gonsalves’ Unity Labour Party have a long-standing relationship.
Pierre observed that the relationship is one that is built on people-centered leadership and “a commitment to serving in the best interest of our respective countries”.
“Therefore, I am not surprised that Comrade Gonsalves and his party were able to secure a historic fifth term in office. I wish you the best as you continue to put the people of SVG first!” The SLP leader declared.
NDP leader Dr Godwin Friday, 61, who led the party into a general election for the first time, easily retained the Northern Grenadines seat he has represented in Parliament since 2001.
