An opposition Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) team descended on the village of Canaries Tuesday afternoon, with the party’s first deputy leader, Dr. Ernest Hilaire, expressing the opposition’s determination to see incumbent MP for Anse La Raye-Canaries, Dominic Fedee, defeated at the next elections.
The SLP visit to Canaries was posted on the party’s official Facebook page.
“We are determined to make sure that Fedee does not stay here. Next election, Wayne Girard all the way,” Hilaire declared.
Hilaire, who is the MP for Castries South, asserted that Castries South was sending Girard, the SLP candidate for Anse La Raye-Canaries, ‘some positive energy’.
SLP leader, Philip J.Pierre, who led the opposition team, described the reception they received in Canaries as ‘great’.
The SLP’s Gros Islet candidate, Kenson Casimir, for his part, asserted that there’s a lot of potential in the community.
As a result, Casimir said that the SLP would focus on the talent and capability of the people and take Canaries to a ‘higher height.’
The SLP team also included Babonneau candidate, Dr. Virginia Albert-Poyotte and Anse La Raye-Canaries Candidate, Wayne Girard -among others.
At one point as the delegation passed the Canaries Primary school, some students on the compound came out to greet them.
Both major political parties have been intensifying their political campaigning ahead of general elections, a date for which is yet to be announced.
