Castries North MP, Stephenson King, has expressed confidence that as an Independent Candidate in the upcoming July 26 general elections, he will make history as he seeks to retain the seat he won by a massive margin of over 2000 votes in the last poll when he ran under the banner of the United Workers Party (UWP).
King recalled that for the past three terms, Castries North has voted UWP.
But he asserted that without a doubt, in the July 6 general elections history will be made.
“History will be made in that the Independent Candidate, the patriot, will change things around and bring Castries North to victory as an independent constituency with an independent parliamentarian,” the former UWP leader told reporters as he filed his nomination papers on Friday.
The main opposition Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) has not fielded a candidate in Castries North, fuelling speculation of a joint strategy between them and King.
However the former Prime Minister said he has not had any conversations with the SLP.
