Former Prime Minister, Stephenson King, has commended Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre, for recognising ‘the blue wave’, a designation King gave to his re-election campaign in Castries North as an Independent Candidate.

He also commended Pierre for recognising the significance of the movement to the people.

King spoke after Pierre appointed him Thursday to the ruling Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) cabinet as Senior Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Ports, Transport, Physical Development and Urban Renewal.

The Castries North MP cited the new Prime Minister’s ‘expression of inclusion’ in ‘bringing the country back’, describing it as a step in the right direction to ┬ástop the tribalism and attempt to include all within the configuration of government and governance of the country.

“I would hope that as we move forward with the blue wave in the parliament in an independent capacity but through an accommodation, can continue to express its position in as far as the importance of good governance to the people, good government and the role of the people in national development – to include them in national development and confront the many issues which seem to confront the ordinary man on the street and pay attention to the cries of the people and ensure that government delivers to them,” King explained to reporters.
