Press Release:- On Friday June 12,2020, A Coalition of Saint Lucia’s Music Industry Partners and Practitioners hosted the benefit-concert, ‘Stronger Together- Music for Life’, live on Calabash TV, in aid of Saint Lucian artistes.
The concert featured an eclectic blend of vintage and contemporary Saint Lucian performers, which included Invader, Kayo, Meshach, Rashad, Teddyson John, among others.
The business community, individuals and music lovers on Friday night all chipped in to support the affected local music community.
The primary goal of this project is to establish a fund for the Industry as a means of creating greater financial access and independence for musicians.
In the coming weeks, the Coalition will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with partners, which is an important step in the formation of the fund.
Executive Director of the Cultural Development Foundation (CDF), Mrs. Raymona Henry- Wynne, applauded the success of this first step amidst the current economic situation, and underscored our resilience as a people.
Monetary contributions toward the cause total EC$6220.20 to date. To move closer to the Coalition’s target of EC$20,000, the campaign continues with an extended invitation to Saint Lucia to support the future by going to www.easyclicktickets.com.
Recently appointed Saint Lucian Brand Ambassador Teddyson John described the concert as “timely.”
Teddyson added, “Since the pandemic hit and the shutdown and closure of borders came into effect, as musicians, we have given of ourselves in many ways through telethons, virtual events and other free initiates through our gift of music. And while we have given of ourselves wholeheartedly, our industry has been one of those most severely impacted by this pandemic. We have watched our income literally vanish with the cancellation of events and festivals, locally and internationally, so I am truly grateful that the Coalition recognized the need to take some form of action for the benefit of musicians.”
The Coalition for the ‘Stronger Together- Music for Life’ Concert is grateful for the event sponsors, which included BOSLIL Bank, LUCELEC and Massy Stores and its partners, Export Saint Lucia, Cultural Development Foundation (CDF), Balance Inc., The Wave, Vybe Radio, Rendevous, Blazin FM, Saint Lucia National Trust, Azuk Events, Bay Gardens Beach resort, Oceans Brand Consulting and Studio 758.
Stronger Together Music for Life will be rebroadcasted on Friday, June 26, 2020, at 8:00 p.m. on Calabash TV.
