The suspect in a chopping incident at Bois Patat, Castries, earlier this month has been hospitalised after police shot him at Caye Mange Wednesday afternoon, persons familiar with the incident say.
According to information, an officer shot the suspect in the leg after he confronted the cops with a knife.
Law enforcement officials had earlier been summoned to the scene to investigate a report of a robbery at a business place when the confrontation took place.
On May 17, the suspect is alleged to have attacked two people at Bois Patat, Castries with a cutlass.
As a result of the unprovoked attack, a woman and a man ended up in hospital.
The man sustained injuries to his face, while the woman sustained serious hand and leg wounds, neighbourhood residents said.
The assailant, said to be mentally challenged, escaped after the incident.
And despite a manhunt by the police, they were unable to find him until Wednesday.
The hospital has since discharged both chopping victims.
