The suspect in the murder of Canadian national, Nicole Dempster, made his first appearance in court Monday via Zoom and has been remanded in custody, law enforcement sources say.
Police charged Gros Islet resident Rohan Girard, 39, last week for causing Dempster’s death.
He is scheduled to appear again in court next month.
Officers say they found the body of Nicole Dempster at her home about 11:10 p.m. on Sunday, December 20, 2020, after investigators attached to the Gros Islet station responded to a report of a homicide at Beausejour, Gros Islet.
Officers arrested Girard the next day at Bexon.
A post mortem report on the death of the Canadian national said her death was caused by ‘blunt force trauma to the head.’
Media reports have indicated that the 34-year old Dempster had married a Saint Lucia resident, with whom she had a child.
But the couple later separated and Dempster had since been in a relationship with Girard, reports say.
