A teenager has been charged with maiming in connection with the shooting of a 9-year old boy at Ciceron, Castries, on Saturday afternoon.
Police have identified the suspect as Kyle Austin, 18, of Ciceron.
Law enforcement officials told St Lucia Times Austin was charged Wednesday for the offence.
Ciceron residents had reported that a man who came to the community to sell a motorcycle was playing with a firearm which went off, hitting the boy in the eye.
The youngster was hospitalised but has since been released.
A family member told St Lucia Times Tuesday that the child has lost the eye.
According to the family member, the bullet is still lodged in the eye and plans are being made to raise funds to get him overseas to remove it.
