Therold Prudent, the former leader of the Lucian People’s Movement (LPM), has made  a donation of $1000.00 to the Micoud Public Library.

The money was donated on behalf of the Prudent Family Foundation- For Academic Excellence.

“Our donation is towards enabling the library to replace some of what was stolen during a recent break in,” Prudent explained.

He said he always placed a tremendous value on reading because as a child his mother, Frances Prudent, demanded it.

“She always insisted that reading is the highway to opening up minds, and the only way to achieving independence and success. She was right ! And so, when I eventually had my own family, I insisted on the same,” Prudent disclosed.

“Also , as one who has continually given of my time and family’s resources to advancing young people in this country, I’d like to encourage all your people to do the same.  It’s the only way we are going to finally break the cycle of dependence and poverty in this country,” he asserted.

“Reading is a powerful tool. It allows one to be defined by their knowledge of things , and also of a world beyond our very shores,” Prudent declared.

He said in the coming weeks the Prudent Family Foundation hopes to make a donation of books to the Micoud library.
