The Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) responded to three structural fires and five vehicle accidents among other emergencies between Friday and Monday.
That’s according to the SLFS weekend report.
Fire Service spokesman, Damian Jn Baptiste, disclosed that emergency personnel also recorded a physical assault and a suspected suicide.
He disclosed that on Saturday February at 9:55 am, Gros Islet Fire Station attended to a structural fire at Monchy, Gros Islet.
Jn Baptiste said an out of control bush fire ignited a 10×12 wooden storage shed and completely destroyed it.
The following day at 1.08 pm, Fire service Headquarters responded to a structural fire at Odsan, Castries.
The fire completely destroyed a 13×13 wooden structure.
The Vieux Fort Fire station at 7:42pm responded to reports of a fire in an abandoned 12×16 plywood structure at La Ressource, Vieux Fort.
The fire destroyed the structure.
Emergency personnel also responded to five motor vehicle accidents.
As a result, they transported a total of eight patients with various injuries to hospital.
Jn Baptiste explained that all the patients were in stable condition.
He also disclosed that on Friday the Gros Islet fire station transported a 37 year old male from Riviere Mitant, Gros Islet to the OKEU Hospital.
The man told emergency personnel that an assailant entered his home and assaulted him.
Jn Baptiste said the victim was in stable condition when an ambulance took him to hospital.
The fire service also responded after a report of a suspected suicide at Grace, Vieux Fort.
Police identified the deceased as Shavon Brown, 27.
