A fire on Tuesday night consumed a building at West Hall Group ‘B’, Vieux Fort, that served as a dwelling house and an ice cream and pizza outlet, it has been reported.
A fire service official said emergency personnel rushed to the scene about 11:26 p.m. with two fire trucks and an ambulance after an alarm was raised, but did not manage to save the two bedroom wooden and concrete structure which measured some 8 metres by 9 metres.
Three people, two of whom were in the building at the time of the fire, are now homeless.
The cause of the blaze is currently being investigated.
