Tourism Minister Extends Sympathy To Snake Bite Victim ‘Joe Knows’

Tourism Minister Dominic Fedee has extended sympathy to Saint Lucia Tour Operator ‘Joe Knows’ who was bitten by a snake last week.

Joe Knows, whose real name is Josiah Castang, on Sunday told St Lucia Times from his Victoria Hospital bed that he was bitten by a fer de lance.

The incident occurred as he and a friend were visiting a waterfall in the fishing village of Anse La Raye, he disclosed.

“I know Joe Knows personally and I just want to offer my sincerest sympathy to him.” Tourism Minister Dominic Fedee told reporters Monday.

“I know from reports that he is recovering well in the hospital,” Fedee disclosed.

He said that was a very positive thing.

“I don’t think we want to sensationalise this. This is an unfortunate incident that could have happened to any of us,” the minister stated while extending his sympathy both to the victim and his family.

In response to a question from a reporter, Fedee explained that even with the best preparations things happen in life.

“You are going into the forest which is a protected area and by going into the rain forest you will find certain habitats there – some are harmless and some are harmful and you just have to take extra precaution but – what can I say? Things happen in life,” Fedee asserted.

  1. My mom and I attended that meeting and first of all there was not nothing close to 400 people, second coming back home? To what? PM why you always lying?

  2. A company in Costa Rica is producing anti venom tablets using the same type of snakes… Can’t the government subsidise these tablets for the tour guides ensure that it is available on trips? A solution must be sought in the event that it can be dealt with immediately, especially as the main thrust of revenue is generated via tourism

  3. Fedee now you blaming mini bus drivers saying that their strike is political.Have you ever attempted a small journey to Venus,to apreciate what the people of your consistuency have to suffer? You really are dum,to talk like that. That shows your ignorance and your lack of political experience.
