PRESS RELEASE:- Minister for Education, Innovation, Gender Relations and Sustainable Development Hon. Gale Rigobert has expressed her gratitude, and that of the Government of Saint Lucia, to President of the Co-operative Republic of Guyana David Granger, for agreeing to have his government bear all of the cost associated with treatment and well-being of Nick Omar Joseph, an eight-year-old Saint Lucian Cub Scout seriously injured in a road accident, whilst attending a Cuboree, in the Caribbean country of Guyana.

Dr. Rigobert said the Ministry of Education, which has been in touch with the organizers of the Cuboree and officials of the Government of Guyana continues to be updated regularly on Nick’s condition.

Dr. Rigobert, who recently returned to the island from government business overseas, expressed sadness at the turn of events, and said her heart goes out to the families of Nick Omar Joseph and Darnell Matthew, a nine-year-old Cub Scout also involved in the road accident, with minor injuries.

The Ministry of Education, the Minister said, will continue to monitor the situation and provide any support where necessary, to ensure young Joseph makes a full recovery and safely returns to Saint Lucia.
