The driver of a truck which crashed into a vehicle at Bexon on Saturday killing a resident of the community, is assisting police with investigations into the accident, law enforcement officials say.
But there have been no arrests.
Rufinus Pascal, a father of three, died shortly after the crash.
Emergency officials say they had to extricate him from the twisted metal of his Suzuki Swift.
“All I know is that my dad was parked on the side of the road waiting on his girlfriend to enter the car and a drunk driver crashed into the parked vehicle,” Jarney St. Luce, the daughter of the deceased told St Lucia Times.
St. Luce said she was at work on Saturday morning when she received news of the accident.
She disclosed that she received information that a truck veered to the other side of the road and ploughed into the parked car in which her 56 year old father was sitting.
The distraught daughter urged drivers to be careful on the road, saying that they should not go behind the wheel if they have been drinking.
“The family is distraught because we never expected that. My father was such a great person – never any problems with anyone,” St. Luce told St Lucia Times.
She recalled that the deceased was generous and helpful.
“He was always ready to help somebody,” St. Luce explained.
“I remember him on Sundays when we’re at home the family would get together – giving jokes. His co-workers – giving jokes with them,” she stated.
St. Luce also disclosed that fishing was her father’s hobby.
