Truck Driver ‘Unresponsive’ After Castries Accident

A truck driver was unresponsive after a 5 ton dump truck overturned in Ciceron, Castries, Monday, emergency officials say.

According to the officials the accident happened as the vehicle was heading in the direction of the Millennium Highway.

The driver was the sole occupant of the truck at the time, it was reported.

The Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) said it received a call about the accident about 2.05 pm.

The SLFS said the driver was trapped in the truck and had to be extricated.

“CPR was initiated by the ambulance crew and the driver was transported to Victoria Hospital in an unresponsive state,” a fire service official told St Lucia Times.

Videos of the aftermath of the accident were posted on social media showing someone trapped in a truck.

  1. WHY? WHY? Why do people have to post graphic videos of people in hapless situations, and to make it worse, the media prey on this kind of “reporting”! Instead of HELPING the hapless victims, they stand by videotaping the sad situation, with their camera phones. How can they sleep at night, with that kind of unsympathetic, and insensitive attitude?

On the most important note, I sincerely hope the driver of the truck recovers fitfully. Kudos to the SLFS.
