T&T: Cops arrested with drugs, guns and alcohol

Trinidad Express:-TWO police officers allegedly caught with $1.6 million in marijuana, firearms and a quantity of alcohol were arrested by their colleagues on Tuesday.

The suspects – two constables attacked to a special TTPS unit – together with an El Socorro man, were detained in South Oropouche.

The contraband items were allegedly being transported in a marked police vehicle.

At around 4.20 p.m. Sgts Ali and George and a party of police officers of the Oropouche Police Station received a tip-off and intercepted a Nissan Xtrail in the district.

The vehicle was searched and four crocus bags containing compressed marijuana, three pistols and a quantity of nine millimetre ammunition, and 11 bottles of Anis alcohol were allegedly found in the vehicle.

The three were arrested and taken to the Oropouche Police Station, and were handed over to officers of the Organised Crime, Narcotics and Firearms Bureau (OCNFB).

Sgt Durga of OCNFB is continuing investigations.
