Two adults were wounded when gunmen opened fire on a house in the Bananes Bay area of Castries Friday night.
A baby who was also in the house at the time escaped unhurt.
But the mother told St Lucia Times that the child is traumatised.
As a result of the incident about 10.45 pm, the mother sustained two gunshot wounds to the leg.
Her boyfriend was hit in the thigh.
Medical officials treated both.
The mother told St Lucia Times her nine-month old baby now keeps crying.
“He’s crying – he doesn’t recognise me. The only thing he’s doing is just come and take my breast and go. He not spending any time with me,” she lamented.
She said as a result of the shooting, she is in pain.
The wooden house where the couple lives has bullet holes.
The woman who sustained injuries suggested that the shooting may be linked to an apparent disagreement her boyfriend had with another man earlier.
Police are investigating the incident.
