Two women are among twenty-one foreign nationals incarcerated at the Bordelais Correctional Facility (BCF), according to the institution’s end of year jail report.
The majority of the foreign inmates, ten, are at the BCF for drug-related offences.
Among the others, two are serving time for possession of firearms while one is incarcerated for incest, it was reported.
Another four are awaiting deportation.
Vincentian nationals comprise the largest group of foreign inmates followed by Venezuelans.
Seven Vincentians are serving time at the correctional facility, as are four Venezuelans and three Barbadians.
There’s also one American, a Brazilian, a Cuba-born Saint Lucian, a Dominican, a French national, a Jamaican and a Grenadian among the foreign inmate group.
As of December 11, 2020, the prison population stood at 518, including 365 remand inmates.
Between July and December this year, the BCF admitted 97 inmates.
August accounted for the highest number of admissions – 32 inmates, comprising four penal and 28 on remand.
Between July 29, 2020 to December 11, 2020, there were a total of 112 discharges.
