An early morning fire Saturday destroyed two houses and damaged another building at Faux A Chaud, Castries.
The Saint Lucia Fire Service (SLFS) says the blaze left at least four people homeless.
But no one sustained injuries.
Firefighters say they battled the flames for some six hours before bringing it completely under control and preventing it from spreading among the tightly packed buildings in the community.
Fire Service Headquarters in Castries initially responded with two fire trucks.
However, the responders had to summon backup from Babonneau and Gros Islet fire stations which responded with one truck each.
A fire service spokesman said when firefighters arrived on the scene, they encountered some difficulty accessing the fire on George Cooper road, because of the way people had parked their vehicles.
Investigators have launched a probe to determine the cause of the fire.
