Two tropical waves, one of which may start affecting Saint Lucia by Wednesday, are showing signs of development in the tropical Atlantic, according to the Saint Lucia Meteorological Services.
Meteorological Services Director, Andre Joyeaux, told St Lucia Times that the other wave is expected to affect Saint Lucia over the weekend.
He said the first system, some 850 miles away and moving at a speed of between 15 and 20 miles per hour, has a thirty percent chance of development as it moves towards this country.
But Joyeaux explained that the major development will occur after it passes.
In regard to the second system, some 1,800 miles away, he disclosed that there’s a ten percent chance of development.
As a result, Meteorological Services officials are monitoring it and say they will provide updates to the public.
“The normal progression is a tropical depression then a tropical storm, based on the wind,” Joyeaux explained.
He advised that Saint Lucians should remain prepared by, among other things, trimming trees, clearing drains and stocking up on non-perishable food.
